The White Horse Golf Club is nestled on high ground between the Olympic and Cascade Mountains, with sweeping views of the Puget Sound and the mountains. It is part of the Suquamish Clearwater Casino Resort and has been voted one of the country’s Top Ten Best New Affordable Golf Courses as awarded by Golf Digest Magazine. This 18 hole public golf course is easy to find – located on Suquamish Way NE just a short drive from Poulsbo – and consists of wide fairways and immaculate green landing areas, with strategic bunkers and water features to make the course more interesting. Rates start at $20 for 9 holes or $28 for 18 holes on weekdays, with prices increasing for weekend play however concessions for junior and senior golfers are available on certain days and during off peak times too.
The Gold Mountain Golf Club is a prestigious course that is located in Bremerton and this has also received various accolades from the golfing industry and is deemed to be one of the best municipally owned courses in the country. There are two courses to choose and these include the 9 hole Olympic Course which is deemed to be the most challenging of the two, as it is hillier with tree-lined fairways that open off the tee and plenty of mounds around the vast collection areas that surround each of the greens. This course has been spectacularly sculpted into the splendor of the Pacific Northwest landscape that surrounds it and is suitable for all levels of play. The Cascade Course also offers 9 holes of wooded enclaves set amid rolling hills but is not quite as steep as the Olympic with less variation in the elevation levels and there is plenty of driving area on the wide, tree-lined fairways. Green fees start at $29 for the Cascade and $39 for the Olympic on weekdays with higher fees charged weekends and holidays although discounted rates are available for twilight play, as well as for juniors and seniors at certain times while annual fees can be paid to reduce daily rates too.
The Village Greens Golf Course is another alternative and this is part of the Kitsap County Parks organization. This is an 18-hole executive golf course that is fun, challenging and family friendly so it is suitable for both avid golfers and beginners. It is situated in Port Orchard, on Fircrest Drive SE just off Mill Road and additional amenities include a covered and illuminated driving range, practice putting green and practice chipping green while pull cart and club rentals are available from the pro-golf shop on site.
